So, LJ and Twitter were both his by DoS attacks this morning... Now I get it when the financial system or governments are attacked. There are all kinds of folks that might want to do that--terrorists, foriegn governments, even home-grown survivalist type (although the last aren't usually all that savvy about networks and security systems).

I can't say I have a handle on who might care if we blog and tweet...

Oh, wait. Yes I do. It just occurred to me, mid sentence, that the reformers in Iran have been spreading info via tweets. Never got the impression they were using LJ, though. And DoS is so temporary, I can't see it meeting the needs of the Iranian establishment. With North Korea, it's a bit different, they're trying to send a message to the U.S. government, not control their own people's actions.

We're still left with the question, why does anyone care about social networking enough to try and shut it down, even temporarily? DoS to government computers and financial institutions does real harm, but this is utterly trivial.
